​Meet composer Elaine Hagenberg and hear a concert of her works, including her new major work, Illuminare, performed by CMS with the Metropolis Symphony Orchestra. Other pieces will be performed by CMS with pianist Lyudmila Lakisova and singers from area schools.​​

The Composer Residency will perform audience favorites like Through Love to Light and newer works such as Deep Peace and Alleluia. This year’s Composer Residency will also give the world premieres of two new pieces, including one commissioned by the GLFM especially for this occasion.

This year’s theme is “Heavenly Music,” and the repertoire includes not only Schubert’s lovely Mass in G to be performed with professional soloists and orchestra, but also music that contemplates humanity’s place within the cosmos.

Chicago Master Singers’ spring performances will be a celebration of cathedral music featuring Leonard Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms and Tarik O’Regan’s Dorchester Canticles, as well as music by Benjamin Britten and Gerald Finzi.
